Dear Sir or Madam,

I am a regular customer of your shop and went there earlier today to do some shopping. I am quite disappointed to notice that I was billed for items that I did not purchase at all. Unfortunately, I noticed it only when I returned home. I am hoping that you would rectify the issue.

I visited your shop at around 9.30 am on Sunday, July 2019 and purchased a number of items. I paid my bill to a young lady who was managing the cash queue 4. I gave her my VISA credit card and was charged 142 dollars and 25 cents for all of my items. The counter was unusually busy and I did not have enough time to crosscheck the amount of the goods I purchased. When I got back home and studied the bill, I noticed some errors. I was charged for each item I bought and in addition, for a pair of socks, 100-gram cheese, a bottle of shampoo and one-kilo apple. I double checked whether they actually packed those items for me and there were nowhere to be found! As I observed, I was 24.75 dollar overcharged for the items I have not purchased.

I am attaching the receipt for your consideration and would like you to refund my amount next time I visit your mall. A mistake like this is not acceptable from a shop like yours. Please take the necessary steps to rectify this error and make sure it does not happen again.

Firstly, thank you for believing and shopping at our supermarket. Besides that, I sincerely apologize to you for the mistake in your bill today and I am also grateful to you for noticing this issue to us timely.

After reviewing the data in our software system and the number of goods which was sold within the day, we found out the deviation as you mentioned in your email. Then we have checked the data of the camera at the cash queue 4, we saw that our employee made a mistake when she was making a payment for your goods. That is she forgot to clean information of the previous customer in the monitor before beginning new payment. However, she just starts work at our supermarket today and does not completely familiar with the new job yet, and we also reminded her about this problem.

We totally agree to refund the amount that you charged for each item in addition. Whenever you arrive at our supermarket, please present your bill and identification card to our customer service employees, they will return your money back. Besides that, to offer our sincere apologies for the mistakes, we will give you a voucher worth 100$. We hope this gift will make you satisfied and keep purchasing at our supermarket.

I am writing in reply to a letter I received from you a few days ago. In your letter, you stated that you had to pay for items that you did not buy and you asked us to check the bill that you sent us, then you asked us to give change for you.

As soon as I received your letter, I checked and found out that this was our mistake in processing the clients’ bill. In fact, the young lady, who is responsible for charging you, scanned the barcode label accidentally updating the previously paid invoice on the computer, so you had to pay for items you did not buy. By that time, she had been busy and concurrently, the man had gone to the toilet, then you had asked her to pay your bill. However, as our regulation the customers have to check bills and goods before leave the shop. Kindly understand for us that when you came back home we could not check the goods and bill.
