Advocates who believe in the growth of a child by providing one to one instruction firmly argues that, this method allows teachers to provide differentiated instruction for a child according to his capability . Thus, it permits them to fix the common issues such as knowledge- gap seen among children. For instance, while providing one to one instruction, teachers are more likely to provide the child varied tasks as per his intellectual potentials, and this ensures that he masters his weak areas. This approach can also boost the confidence in the child, as he gradually overcomes his academic crises, and makes him feel more-relaxed.
Conversely, those who recommend group learning suggests it as an easier approach to solve the class work, than straining the individual brains. It motivates the child to grasp the concepts in a quick manner and encourages them to explain it to others in the group. In addition, it reduces the stress on both teachers and students to a great extent. Teachers, on the one hand will be able to monitor small groups effectively than giving individual attention. Students, on the other hand, could increase their problem-solving ability when they interact each other and share their ideas. Once a member in the group understands the concept, a teacher is no longer required to explain it in detail to others.
After analyzing both the views in detail, I think as both approaches are beneficial, in different situations it is the teacher who should decide which strategy she should adopt.
First of all, working individually will help them to have their own person opinion. Because some case in our live we need to have our shelf political view. Besides, when they work alone, they can focus mind on the thing without distracted by others.
Secondly, work in group also has a lot of benefit that we can not disclaim. They can work along time, when one of them feel lazy, others are motivation let them continue to work. In addition, work in group we will receive many methods to solve problems, we have numerous ideas and can choose the best one.
Sumarry, we have a sentence that "If you want to go fast, you can go alone. If you to to far, you should go together". You need to make clearly that what is the purpose you want, in order to choose for yourself the way you go-Work individually or work in groups.
I will first explain the advantages and disadvantages of making students to work alone. Assignments, projects, etc, all are created to evaluate a child's ability and to improve their skills and extend knowledge. In term of assessing students' potential, individual work is much more appropriate since every student had to do all of their work. In many tasks like writing assignments or making a rhetoric, asking children to work alone is also easier to judge them. However, working alone means less social interaction while one of the reason students go to school is to have face-to-face interactions with one another. Many students' weaknesses are also uncovered when working alone which affects their results.
On the other hand, I will write about the pros and cons of working in groups. Working in groups acquires students to work with each other in order to finish the given tasks. This helps them to improve their coordination skills which will benefit them in the near future. Members in a group can also offset one another's weaknesses which perfects the team's product. Working as a team also keep children entertained during class, too. Yet, working in groups can also create more distractions and interruptions to students. An existing problem in working in teams is that many students have to do too much of the work while other do less or even nothing. This causes difficulties in grading each member since there is imbalance in work division.
Personally, I think it is best if we can combinedly use both techniques in teaching so that the children will be graded fairly and develop more skills at the same time. After all, each teaching procedure will offset one another's deficiency which results in the best teaching systems.
In conclusion, schools should use alternately both methods in teaching students to please different opinions and help children grown all around.
