It’s not the people don’t care, it’s just that they’re unaware because they don’t understand that sea turtles play a very important ecological role in the marine ecosystem. Some turtles are a source of food for fish. Others help maintain reefs vital to marine life. Tiny baby turtles emerge from the sand. It can take days for them to struggle to the surface after hatching from eggs buried by their mother. “We can just see the head and one flipper out”.

Supraja Dharini heads the Tree Foundation, started when she learned of the rapidly dwindling population of sea turtles that nest on South India's shore. To help the turtles survive, she and her volunteers relocate the turtles eggs in specially built palm- leaf huts where there is(….) or eat jelly fish that thrive on fish eggs. But turtles now desperately need help. Hatchlings are carried to the shore, getting them to the water safely still more hazards lie ahead. This sea turtle is missing three of her flippers.
