Syrian activists say at least 6,000 people died in the country last month - more than any other time since the uprising began.  The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that 600 of those who died were women and children.

13 boys have died in a fire at an Islamic school in the Burmese capital of Rangoon. Police blame the fire on an electrical fault rather than the recent sectarian violence between Buddhist and Muslim communities.

And new research shows cheaper types of fish are being mislabeled and sold to customers as more expensive varieties. Tests suggest that 7% of fish sold in supermarkets in the UK were actually something else.
