It is undeniable that long-serving staffs have dedicated to development’s company. Therefore, the company should have special policies to reward them. However, there is a deficiency if leaders only prioritize higher positions for staff who have worked for a long time.

There is nothing to say if long-serving staffs have real competencies. What is mentioning is that many staffs only have long-length times working without any capacities meanwhile higher positions require many other skills such as management skills, foreign language fluency… What happened if they hold key positions in the company? Whether or not it could cause severe damages to the business’s company when they are not enough abilities? It is obvious that someone who deserves or not to is promoted to a higher position will depend mostly on their competencies.

It is also unfair for other people who are excellent at work. They work productively however the condition of the length of work does not allow them to get a promotion. Even in many cases, newcomers are people who have a wide range of accumulated experiences or ever held high positions at a former company in a long time. Obviously, they can compete with current seniority people.

To sum up, it is fair for people if higher positions are for all staffs having true capacities. Seniority should be a favor condition when candidates have the same competencies
